JoyCheck Widget Utility Guide
by Jon Lambert

This guide does not explain how to use the JoyCheck Widget, only the utility included with the widget.

The utility can be used to examine the functionality of the widget in a semi-organic environment.

The widget starts out with no buttons bound by default. All the alterable values of the JoyCheck Widget should be 0.

To bind a button with the utility, enter the number of the value you wish to bind the button to in the first edit box, and press the Bind button. The button will prompt you to press a button on your keyboard as the widget enters binding mode (internal flag 0 is activated). Pressing a button while in binding mode will assign that button's value to the alterable value defined in the first edit box.

Once a button has been bound, it will be registered in both lists. The first list contains the value number and the button stored. The second list contains only the default value stored.

To save a buttonbinding configuration, type the name you want to give the file into the second edit box (do not include a full path or any file extensions) and press the Save button. The file will be saved with a .jcw extension attached, and will be saved in the same directory as the utility. The utility will not prompt you with a save confirmation.

To load a buttonbinding configuration from the same directory as the utility, type the name of the file (excluding full path and file extension) and press the Load button. The two lists should update themselves to reflect the values loaded from the list. The utility will only load files with the .jcw extension.

Once a button has been bound, pressing, holding, or releasing the button will log the action in the list at the bottom of the utility. As each button is defined both in terms of the value it has been bound to on the JoyCheck Widget as well as the values stored by the Joystick 2 object (the JoyCheck Widget), each log will state the button's name relative to the JoyCheck widget followed by the button's value relative to the Joystick 2 object.
