KeyCheck Widget Utility Guide
by Jon Lambert

This guide does not explain how to use the KeyCheck Widget, only the utility included with the widget.

The utility can be used to examine the functionality of the widget in a semi-organic environment.

The widget starts out with no keys bound by default. All the alterable values of the "KeyCheck Widget - KeyBinder" object should be 0.

To bind a key with the utility, enter the number of the value you wish to bind the key to in the first edit box, and press the Bind button. The button will prompt you to press a key on your keyboard as the widget enters binding mode (internal flag 0 is activated). Pressing a key while in binding mode will assign that key's value to the alterable value defined in the first edit box.

Once a key has been bound, it will be registered in both lists. The first list contains the value number and the key stored. The second list contains only the default value stored.

To save a keybinding configuration, type the name you want to give the file into the second edit box (do not include a full path or any file extensions) and press the Save button. The file will be saved with a .kcw extension attached, and will be saved in the same directory as the utility. The utility will not prompt you with a save confirmation.

To load a keybinding configuration from the same directory as the utility, type the name of the file (excluding full path and file extension) and press the Load button. The two lists should update themselves to reflect the values loaded from the list. The utility will only load files with the .kcw extension.

Once a key has been bound, pressing, holding, or releasing the key will log the action in the list at the bottom of the utility. As each key is defined both in terms of the value it has been bound to on the "KeyCheck Widget - KeyBinder" object as well as the values stored by the Keyboard object (the "KeyCheck Widget - KeyWatcher" object), each log will state the key's name relative to the KeyCheck widget followed by the key's value relative to the Keyboard object.
